Tony, I have an idea for your next CD. Do an album with the Alabama Wild Man, Jerry Reed! I'd be your first buyer. I love the way he picks. My dad and I have been talkin' about how great ya'll two would be together. As much as I love Jerry Reed though, your my favorite. When are you going to be back in Texas? I've never seen you in person before. Think about the CD with Jerry Reed. It would be a HUGE seller. Who wouldn't buy it!?!

Just watched your 2 vol. Homespun Tapes lesson with Happy Traub. I've been playing nothing but mandolin for the last year. You've inspired me to get my Martin out again and get to work. Shanandoah, as you play it, is a real masterpiece. Thanks,
Bill

Mr. Rice, I have and always will be in total awe of your musical ability and how you are at will to have incredible sounds emulate from that classic Martin of yours.Being a cancer patient your music and proficient manner has indeed inspired, and got me through some less than pleasant days. For that I thank you, and being an amateur musician myself I can truly appreciate the music you deliver. Could you please tell me if you have any upcoming dates in Canada. Thank you Ellery.

A Giant of a man on a giant of a guitar. I heard Peter Rowan refer to Tony Rice that way and I'd say that sums it up perfectly. Your the reason I bought a Martin and practice constantly. Thank you for your music and work ethic, it sure has influenced me.

Been a Tony fan for years now and he's still the best. Picked up the recent Rowan/Rice teaching dvd and loved it. Pure magic comes from Tony's fingers. Anyone gets the chance to pick up this dvd, do so. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Tony for all the years of great music.

I posted a little earlier in the year, said that I would get a D-28 someday. I bought an HD-28 2 weeks ago, and found a used one 10 years old sounding very sweet! I am inspired to learn to play like Tony Rice or Norman Blake! Wow can those cats pick! Thanks Tony!

HEY TONY. I TOLD MY DAD I WAS ON YOUR WEBSITE THE OTHER DAY. I TOLD HIM YOU HAD A PICTURE OF YOUR GUITAR 'THE BONE'. Well he has a 44 herringbone and he said to tell his is named "killer".When you were in louisville for the bluegrass festival, you needed a backup and you played it and you said "now this is a mans guitar" he got a real kick out of that. have a nice day

Dear Tony Rice and Peter Rowan:
Stunning is the word that tries to describe how it felt to first hear your "Wild Mustang" song for the first time.
I was tuned into Wyoming Public Radio The Ranch Breakfast Show and I was just opening my pickup truck door (at the car wash), when the first mystical and multicultural accoustic guitar(s) intro to that song completely captured my soul.
Whispers of Spain, the Arabian Desert, Kentucky, Wyoming and Montana all rolled into one! WOW....fantastic! Next came the heart touching lyrics that so simply, yet elegantly relate the complexity of complete and TRUE freedom and spirit of the wild mustang.
Tears of locked up emotion streamed down my face and I could not move until the song was finished. In times like these, the recall of that most precious sense of freedom that lives in each of us--if we only remember-- is truly and joyously appreciated.
Thank you and bless your continued good work.
Frankie Yvonne
PS... Have you heard the Michael Johnson song "Ponies" it gave me similar chills back in the mid-eighties

Hey Tony as a new listener to your music I am majorly impressed with your music and your SCGC guitars. My friend sprayed paint stripper all over his Tony Rice Model then he dropped an iron on it but believe it or not it sounds a lot better than it did so I would highly recommend calling Richard Hoover and recommending they start doing that to their guitars. Well anyway keep up the good music and stuff. Bye bye

HI TONY,
I'VE ENJOYED YOUR GUITAR PLAYING AND SINGING FOR MANY YEARS, SINCE AROUND'74. I WAS LIVING IN BAY AREA AT THE TIME, AND 1ST SAW YOU AT A BENEFIT FOR A FAMILY ? IN S.F.
I MOVED TO HAGERSTOWN MD. IN THE EARLY '80S AND WAS PRIVILIGED TO SEE YOU PLAY THE BIRCHMERE AND ALSO SAW 1 BLUEGRASS ALBUM BAND SHOW IN VA.
WE MOVED TO IDAHO IN '88 SO HAVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO CATCH RECORDINGS AND DVDS FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS.
YOUR PLAYING REALLY TURNED MY HEAD AROUND AS TO WHAT IS POSSIBLE WITH THE GUITAR IN BLUEGRASS AND ACOUSTIC MUSIC. JUST AS IMPORTANT THOUGH, WAS THE LIFE THAT YOU PUT INTO YOUR SINGING WHETHER IT WAS BILL, LESTER,OR GORDON LIGHT FOOT.
THANKS FOR YOUR EXPLORATIONS.
HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT OUT TO
IDAHO SOMETIME.
A LONG TIME FAN

Young David,
It was great to see you again, but when I ran into you in the Holiday Inn lobby, I didn't have time to see if you would please do me the honor of re-working the Bolivia I just bought. I only made the purchase because of that fine time piece on your wrist.

Tony I came accross your music when I lived up in Cananda.Searching a music store for any notes on blue grass when I came across your teaching CD. That was about 10 years ago and ever since I've been playing and trying to follow the tunes of the great Tony Rice. We have a bit of a Blue Grass scene here in Switzerland and your name is well known among all the blue grassers. No matter how often I listen to your music I never get tired of it.
Greetings from Switzerland

Tony,
I have been a guitar player for about 35 years, playing mostly in a church band/worship group. My main guitar is a Fender Strat. That has all recently changed. I started listening to your music, have a couple of your cds, and all is settled. My goal is to play your style and type of songs on an acoustic guitar. I play a dreadnought, a rather inexpensive one, but hope to get a D-28 or D-18 someday. May God bless you and your family. I was very sorry to learn that Larry died.
God bless you & Pam,

Howdy Tony,
I have been a thumb picker most of my life and have always been a fan of Chet, Jerry, and others. Then, I heard you. I recently bought some flat picks and I can't even hold on to them yet, but I'm workin' on it. I have also turned some of my friends on to your incredible talent. I've just never heard anything like it. Sure hope to see you in person some day. Thank you for all that you do.

I have been a huge fan for a long time. I have spent countless hours trying to copy some of your style with very little sucess. I had a dream come true last night when my son and I saw you with Peter in Murray Ky. I was hypnotized during the entire performance. You make the guitar look so efortless to play. The quartet is a great group but you turned the night into something magic with your awesome playing. I am so so glad that I finally got to see you live. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories you gave to me and my son we will cherish them for a lifetime.

I saw your show last night with Pete Rowan and was blown away by the whole ensemble. It was such a blessing to see such expert musicians and your humility was obvious. Thanks for coming to Kentucky and I pray we'll see you here again soon! May the Lord bless you abundantly through Jesus Christ!

Tony, I'm a big fan of your music. I've been a fan since I was 5 years old. This may sound strange, but I'm 12 years old and a guitar picker myself. My father introduced me me to your music. Your albums Church Street Blues and Manzanita inspired me to pick up the guitar. Tony, you're my hero. Keep on pickin'. Your fan and fellow guitar picker, Jackson.

Hello, Tony
Have been a fan for many years. I lived on Griffin Gate Farm guest house on Newtown Pike back in the 70's ('76 & '77?) when I attended U.K. and used to walk across the fields to the Holiday Inn to listen you and boys play. Man, oh man, still a fan. Still have all your vinyl! "Streets of London" has got to be one of the best songs ever recorded. I just love your version of that classic, which elevated to the heavens.
Keep it coming!
