My children have grown older now, as have I. The guitar has come back to me and I'm expanding my horizons with it. Thanks Tony, for the inspiration.

Tony inspired me to finally purchase a Clarence White D-28 and contiues to inspire me to play everyday. After owning this instrument, I can certainly understand the passion Tony has for it.

Forgot to mention how great it is to live in LA. Over the years, I've jammed with three of the Kentucky Colonels; Billy Ray, Leroy and Roland. John McEuen came to our last jam session. I jammed with both Gabe Witcher and Sara Watkins at Topanga when they were pre-teens. I play a Martin HD-35 and a D-16 both early 90s vintage.

I met you once in Denver about 20 years ago. I have drawn from you as well as Clarence and Jerry. I play with Paul Statman (a Grisman emulator/the best I know of) We play semi pro as The Statmen. We won our local bluegrass festival contest (Topanga) as Tipsy Gypsy. I may not have all the pro chops but I'm told I have a great feel. I am working on the Django style now. thanks for blazing the trail.

I know that Tony was/is a big Jerry Reed fan and I am too. I was saddened to hear of Jerry's passing. I've had 3 main guitar heroes in my life. Two of them now are gone. Randy Rhoads and Jerry Reed. The third main guitar hero of mine is Tony Rice, who I see as the greatest acoustic guitarist of all time. Thanks for the music Tony and keep it coming for many years to come.

Hey Tony! Love your style of playing the guitar. I got introduced to bluegrass thru my Grandfather at age 15. I have been going to Galax, VA Fiddler Convention for 6 years in a row! Other than that there isn't much bluegrass music where I live. That's why I like learning with CDs! First song I picked out was Faded Love off of your earlier albums with Windy and Warm song! Your one of my many inspirations in acoustic music!

Tony, Been a big fan of yours for years. Never had the pleasure of meeting you, but I do some jamming with a guy who says he once lived next to you and had played with you.. Name of Mack Billings, he to is a great guitarist. Me I am a mediocre player but love it anyway. Love anything that you do. I have a privately made D28 based on the 1935 D-28 like yours. Man does this thing ring out. I also own a 1999 HD-28, D-16 Lyptus and a DVM model... My favorite intrumental by you is Lost Indian... I crank it up on the CD player in my van.. George Hodgkiss just recorded for Leon Morris a song I wrote called God's Highway.. Look for it in the near future. Have a great day and keep the Bluegrass coming....

Mahn! Just rec'd "Night Flyer". Just heard the first song, by Tony, "Never Meant To Be". Knocked my socks off! Has a bit of Dylan kiss-off in it. Gotta love that. I have many of the other tunes on various CD's, but it's nice to have 'em all in one place. Tony, Clarence and Doc are the Holy Trinity of acoustic gtr players for me!

Going thru some boxes today and remembering the years I spent outside of Lexington, VA
listening pretty much only listening to Tony, N. Blake G. Lightfoot and C. Smithers and it was Tony Rice that led me to the others in some way. Wow. How can one musician play such an influential role in so many othewise distant individuals - I can't describe here how much of my thinking and perspective has been influenced by his voice, music and selections of music.
On a lighter note.. wondering today if I'll ever here Tony play a Pat Metheny song like James or anything from M. Hedges... sadly we will never see Hedges play Rice... but there is such an affinity between some of their vocal recordings like "church street blues" and "Watching My Life Go By".. anyhow. than you. look forward to your next show on the west coast.

I am a devoted fan, love your different styles. I saw you at Hiawasee Ga and was able to sit up close, it was an unbelievable experience. I got photos of your hands and guitar. I do grieve for your lost singing voice. As I write I'm listening to "Greenlight on the Southern". What a blessing you have been both with your guitar and voice. Thanks for sharing with us.

Tony,
The new releases of Pony, About Love, and Never Meant to Be is great.
I loved your song on Larry's record and love it just as much your new record. Night Flyer has the best selection of songs EVER! Hope you are doing well. Keep that motorhead Danny straight now.

Greetings to all.
We hope all the fans will check out Tony's latest album release NIGHT FLYER. His new album features an incrediable tune he wrote and sings called, NEVER MEANT TO BE. It also includes the tune PONY. A personal statement by him that all road troubadors can certainly relate to.
I would also like to invite any fans who may find themselves in the Triad area of N.C, to Chinqua-Penn Plantation, this upcomming Thurs. 8/14 6p.m to 7p.m. I am hostessing a wine release party for the new Chinqua-Penn Muscadine Red. It will be held inside the court yard here. There is no admission to attend this event.
Our Best to all the fans and their loved ones.

Mr. Rice,
Thank you so much for signing my Martin when you were in Memphis last. It was already one of my prized possessions, but now it's irreplaceable! I get comments on it everywhere I play now. I also got Ricky Skaggs to sign it back in February, so now Skaggs and Rice go with me everywhere! Can't beat that! I'll never be able to do you justice, but thanks so much just the same! Come back and see us soon!

Hey, T... I'm looking for a Standard Poodle... Any suggestions? Hey, and forgive me this next thing- I see my old friend RICHARD BULL a few below me in the forum. Since neither you nor he have my current number, I hope someone would email me and get it, lol <>
As for the Brit liking the lightfoot... Gordon is a fantastic lyricist, but Tony Plays Lightfoot, for sure. Just makes Gord's Gold go Platinum!!!
