Tony, I’ve helped with a new site, stories inspired by Bob Dylan: www.hawkstories.com. The newest tale is fun, “Quinn the Eskimo.” It is a Christmas tale. Let me know you think, and if you can use. Tom

Tony, my father has often talked about you two pickin' in his house in Louisville, when I was a baby. I have grown up listening to your music and I hope that when you come to Stoughton in the Spring that my dad, Tom, will be able to come to the show and say, "hi." He lives in Mazomanie, Wisconsin, now in a log cabin in the middle of nowhere--and he will sometimes pull out his Martin and play the songs you all used to in that house so long ago. Amazing how time and lives fly on us, isn't it? Hope to see you in April.

I am a jazz fan, in 1987 a book store in Dallas was playing a recording of On Green Dolphin St. The version was flawless but played with bluegrass instruments. I bought the record. A neighbor heard it from the courtyard and said: "that's Tony Rice". A year later in Virginia, I witnessed perfection.

tony rice is without a doubt the most influential musician in my life. greatest flatpicker that ever was. he is to me what clarence white was to him. i hope to go somewhere with the music scene someday, but i just love to play his music. the man was a double threat! he had an amazing voice, and could pick one mean guitar. i'de like to meet him one day, its sad that i'll never get to hear tony sing live in concert within my life time, but i still have an amazing respect for how talented tony still is. not many people out there have been making music as long as he has.

I purchased your Homespun video about 7 months after I began playing guitar at 17.It was the best money I have ever spent.I know that you are always getting praise for your lead work, but I think your rythym work is the most important, because without it there IS no music.Anyway, thank you for making such eclectic, always tasteful music. It gives the rest of us something to go by and strive for.

I saw The Tony Rice Unit on October 17, 2009 in Suffolk, VA. Growing up in Wasilla, Alaska, my father listened to Tony Rice and David Grisman and other Bluegrass staples, and being able to hear the Tony Rice Unit nearly brought tears to my eyes. Tony Rice has the most melodic and emotion inspiring song-writing skills. I hope in my lifetime I can witness his work performed live again.

Who will be in the "Unit" when you play at the Stoughton Opera House? Thanks again Tony for signing my Ovation at Wildwood a couple of years ago. My wife and I really enjoyed the show and it was a real treat to talk to you and Rickie. For a man at the center of the flatpicking universe to take time to chat to us mere mortals and to be so personable was very special. Can't wait to see you Nov. 13th(that's a Friday) in Stoughton, WI!
