Mr.Rice I've bought and read your "Still Inside" book. I really enjoyed the book. It was great reading about you and my other favorite pickers. One thing that came to light for me in your book was that you put a rattlesnake rattle in your guitar. You said that it helps the sound. The first guitar that I bought and learned to play many a year now was an old arch top f-hole. I had just got it and I could hear something moving around in it. I looked through the f hole and there it was..a rattler's rattle. I asked about it , but no one seemed to know why it was put there.I have two guitars and a fiddle and I put rattlers in them. I'm glad I did and know I know why. I hope to get to see you someday. Take care. Steve Ashcraft

Started playing mando when I was 59. Listening to you and Ricky caused me to go back to my roots in Alabama. As a preacher I speak a lot, now I have the opportunity to speak through music as well. I appreciate your integrity and love for the simple things that create joy.

Mr. Rice, I have been playing now for 13 years, and only very recently was tunred on to your music. It has changed my whole perception, and thinking about Bluegrass, as well as other generes. Thank you for what you've done, and continue to do.

Prayed for Mr. White - On another note, for the newer visitors you should check out some of Wyatt Rice's stuff. Wyatt is a very accomplished guitarist himself. He has a cd he put out in around 1993 or so called "New Market Gap" - check it out, I think you all will like it.

How has Tony Rice traveled so long without someone stealing a guitar, especially "The Bone?" Unless he never flies commercial airlines that is...

My wife and I just arrived in Colorado from Australia, our first ever trip outside our homeland. We planned our whole trip to the USA around Mr Rice being at Rockygrass. We have just turned our laptop on and found out the bad news Mr Rice is ill and wont be able to make it. We are so sorry to hear this you would not believe it, our only chance ever to see such a legend. I know it doesnt help you Tony to hear an Aussie crying himself to sleep tonight other than to know how much you are admired by us and so many fans and we wish you a speedy recovery and good health for a long future.

We will miss you in Lyons this weekend but we will also be sending you some healing vibes. I'm not sure of the nature of your injuries but having herniated a disc in my back 3 times and having surgery once I know just how bad a back can hurt. Hope you are feeling better soon. -Brian

Tony, You are a badass player. The first record I got of yours I got at a salvation army in Las Cruces NM. Picked up "Tony Rice-Guitar" with "lonsome rubin" on it along with a david grisman album. It is absolutely awesome. I have enjoyed it for many years and recently noticed that the album is autographed. So cool, keep on Jammin! JB

Just finished the bio by Tim Stafford and Caroline Wright. Tony's an amazing artist--he is what true acoustic music is all about. He is an acoustic virtuoso, and every acoustic musician owes Tony a debt of gratitude. But his voice--god, his voice is so passionate and honest. There is no one, except possibly Ian Tyson, who satisfies like Tony Rice. Thanks, Tony, for sharing a part of yourself with us.

Hi Tony, Thanks for your music and how you are able to sweetly navigate across the fretboard. You remind me of the way Dickey Betts plays, but in an acoustic format, with a Dreadnought, instead of a Les Paul. Best JIm Moulton Paul

Hi Tony, just want to say that I have just finished your book"still inside" and I enjoyed it very much. Have been a fan of all aspects of your music for many years now and its only since the internet became so accessable that I have managed to get some albums of your which I had a cassette tapes but loaned them to people and of course, never got em back, so it was with great joy that i just got through my letterbox, Manzanita, Backwaters and Cold on the shoulder, Great music Tony, taste, feel and passion comes through every note on your lovely old D28. I would like to wish you many, many more years of making great music. I hope to catch one of your gigs somewhere in The U.S. next yera when my wife and I hope to go over there. Good luck in all you do Tony, Vinny....Ireland.
